I'm leaning towards demisexual because of that scene from Sign of Three where he was in his mind palace talking to those women about the mayfly man and Irene popped in. She was naked and stroking his face. Instead of being all, Ewww, he told her to get out of his head, he was busy. Which sort of said to me that if he hadn't been, he might have been up to continue. (And might have do so before.) So, I think he is sexually attracted to her and I agree that he is at least in love with John, though I feel he would likely be willing to at least explore sex with John. (If he were completely asexual, why would the Irene in his head be naked? He saw her clothed far more than not and yet, the image he keeps of her in his mind palace is naked and touching him.)
But, despite the fact that Molly has earned a place in his mind palace, he doesn't picture her naked and isn't attracted to her. He's not interested in Lestrade. Irene earned his respect, even if he is wary and he adores John enough to die for and kill for him. So, I think these are the two people he is attracted to.
