Sherlocked Benedict Talk Videos
Sorry it took so long but here are my videos of Benedict's talk.
They are not perfect, my hand moved a lot and sometimes because people's head moved in the way my camera focused on that.
It's not the whole talk and some of them missing it's end.
I was sitting fairly far from the stage holding up my fairly heavy camera which is why they are the way they are.
Enjoy.

RE: Pt 1. of 2
I Sherlock The Casebook there is a Richard Brook CV which states his birth year 1976. I know it was a fake CV but to make it believable he had to give a birth year close to his own so my guess is he used his own. (A lot easier to keep a lie straight if a lot of it is true.)
Again in the Casebook there is photo of Sherlock's gravestone with his birthday visible. 6 January 1977.
Which makes Moriarty 13 and Sherlock about 12 when Carl died.
Richard Brook... I even considered that he was real. And he was Moriarty. I mean James Moriarty might not have existed at all. He was smart, a genius even, why would he use a name for his business that can be traced back to him if just one brave or stupid person talks? I mean sure the person would turn up dead within 24 hours but the damage would be done if he talked to the wrong person.
RE: Pt 1. of 2
I OWN that casebook. Now I just have to remember where in the heck I put it...
(Jonathan started reading at age 3... it's very, um, interesting when I want to say things on email and he happens to come over [run over] and starts to read over my shoulder...)
But, IIRC, that's just the first 2 seasons, right? Altho, IIRC (again) it was written and/or endorsed by the producers so whatever is in it must have some relevance, some actual truth to canon (altho, since they have to cover it, I guess they can still change their minds...)
As for using his real name, if Jim comes from some Podunk town of Ireland (legal gay marriage, yeah!!), I guess it doesn't matter NOW that James Moriarty is/was his real name. Assume for the moment that as he first started out, he probably DIDN'T use Moriarty as his name, and then later, he decided he liked the name Moriarty causing fear (like with that woman from the museum, who thought his name was synonymous with Valdomort (sp?)) and it just gave him a tingle that people felt that way.
Also, being a true genius, I imagine he put numerous safety catches in place so that 'regular' people couldn't get to him by tracing back him name or the first trail or second trail, etc. etc. Indeed, it appeared that Mycroft only got a chance to speak to Jim b'c Jim LET him do so. Not thru any great, imaginative thought-out plan of Mycroft's.
Just a thought. You could very well be right.
