Those of you who read the writings of verityburns, atlinmerrick or anarion (or even my fics) and who then go on to read the comments underneath will know the hilarious, detailed and well thought-out comments that we all get from chocolamousse. For over a year we've all been nagging her to write her own stories, and although she did eventually succumb and write birthday fics for some of us, she wouldn't believe they were good enough to allow the world to see them. She couldn't be more wrong and we have finally bullied encouraged her to go public with the first story she wrote. Nightwatch (http://chocolamousse.livejournal.com/7438.html) is just over 270 words of utter brilliance. Even now, ten months after I first saw it, it still makes me cry at the end every time - not because it's sad but because it is utterly beautiful. Give yourself a treat - go read it.
She caught me off guard with that one! I was absorbing the words and cadences of her sentences and suddenly she whips the rug out from under me :) Very beautiful and if I had my wish there would be a companion piece with John's version of those nights.
I've got a couple fic recs and then some random stuff. Sherlock crossover fic rec- flawedamythyst's Skeletons (Sherlock/John, Mycroft, PG) (http://flawedamythyst.livejournal.com/437172.html) This is a crossover of two of my favorite things (the second thing I can't really mention as it would spoil some of the surprise as you read it). Very well-written and different and just really enjoyable.
221b_hound's Guitar Man series: Undress Your Colours (assorted, PG) (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/38606.html) Shock Treatment: Words Are Not Enough (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/39287.html) Unbroken (PG-13) (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/40013.html) I've lost track of how many times I've reread this section because it gets me right in the feels. Shock Treatment: Medley (G) (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/40694.html)
The Gladstone Variations - My Love is Electric (Sherlock/John, Lestrade, NC-17) (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/38777.html) The Gladstone Variations - Honey, Honey (Sherlock/John, NC-17) (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/39427.html) The Gladstone Variations - Join My Body With My Mind (Sherlock/John, NC-17) (http://221b-hound.livejournal.com/40424.html)
I attended Detroit Fanfare this past weekend. Saturday I went dressed as Sherlock with a harpoon:
Speaking of Detroit Fanfare, I saw an artist who would ‘draw anything’ for $5. I asked if he knew BBC Sherlock. He said yes. So I asked if he could draw me Mycroft Holmes with an umbrella (I’m still hoping I can find an image to use for my Mycroft tattoo as I haven’t had any luck so far). He said he would need to look up an image reference on his ipad.
I wander off to take a few pictures and he asks if I want the umbrella opened or closed. I say closed. I take a couple more pictures, come back and look at what he has and I blink because it doesn’t look like Mycroft. it looks very much like Sherlock. Then I glance at his ipad and the image he has on the screen is the one of Sherlock and John in front of 221B-
Here's the finished result-
It is a very nice Sherlock though. I’m going to imagine that Sherlock has stolen Mycroft’s brolly to do some sort of horrible experiment on it so he can give Mycroft the tattered remains when he’s finished, probably in a box with a nice bow on top.
