our_bbcsherlock | Things I get to read (and write) in my Library (3)

Various people who read my journals on DW and LJ, or interact with me in other ways, will probably be aware I was writing an article on fandom for a Media Studies magazine produced for 6th form students.

Yesterday I was sent a copy of the issue with my article in it which was an interesting experience. There were two versions of the text flying about and they seem to have used the first part of the first one and the second part of the second one.

I also think I should say thankyou to various people who have helped at various stages. This includes

kalypso for journalism-type suggestions,

impulsereader for quotations and sensible thoughts about non-sensible fans,

themadblonde for proof reading, all the unsuspecting fans who I have talked to over time at locations while I was writing it and of course

eanor who provided the photo of the Sherlock Holmes Museum. No-one (not even myself or the BBC) seems to have been credited for the photos that were used. At least we got good photos of the boys - the early 1st Series ones, which, although they do have a rather sick Mr Cumberbatch on them, I must say I prefer to the ones from Series Two. We also have a nice banner photo with that shot across the Thames of the bits of London I like to wander around in best.

I've sent copies of it out to as many people as I can think would be interested and have scanned it as both a PDF (contact me via LJ for a copy) and uploaded it as jpegs as well. You should be able to enlarge those to read the text. Have I missed anything I ask myself?

Now onto the next article, which I am still working on the title of, went to the cinema to see the new Bond film to think about for, and need to wait for the new Star Trek to come out to think about too! It's not so Sherlockian as this one but will probably talk about the characters in some way or another.
