I was going to leave this for a few weeks because I’ll probably be tweaking the transcripts for ages yet, but decided to do it now as a sort of early Valentine gift to the few members of the fandom who still might be interested in such a thing.

So all the transcripts - from A Study in Pink (both the broadcast version and the pilot), all the way through Many Happy Returns and the Special, right the way up to and including The Final Problem - are now downloadable as Word or PDF files.

There’s a file of all the transcripts in their entirety; a file of just the speaker and spoken words in every episode; and a file giving all the words spoken by 27 individual characters listed together, e.g. every line spoken in all episodes by Mycroft, or by John, or by Mrs Hudson etc.

And for those people who have already got heavily annotated/edited earlier versions of the transcripts, there are also Season 4 only versions of the full transcripts and of the speakers and spoken words.

To access them, go to my blog here and click on the link at the end of the red line starting “The transcripts are downloadable.”

Back in September last year I announced that I had finally made all of my Sherlock transcripts available to download. I have now updated all of the downloads to incorporate the transcript of The Abominable Bride. However, for the benefit of anyone who downloaded earlier versions and then edited/annotated them and doesn’t want to tamper with them, I’ve also added TAB-only files in the hope that they’ll be useful to a few people.

The various downloadable versions of the transcripts are:

1. One single file containing all the episodes (including the pilot, Many Happy Returns and the Special). 473 pages, with a page index and everything! Additionally, there is a TAB-only version.
2. One single file containing all the episodes (including the pilot, MHR and the Special) with just the speaker and the spoken words. No descriptions or voice tones, no snarky asides from your transcriber. A mere 213 pages! Additionally, a TAB-only version.
3. One single file containing a list of all the lines spoken by each of 25 of the characters throughout all the episodes (including the pilot, MHR and the Special). 179 pages, with a handy page index so you can easily see who’s included and then jump to the appropriate character’s lines. Additionally ... no, sorry, you’re on your own with that one.

All files are available to download in Word (.docx) or as a PDF. To save clogging up this comm, if you’re interested in more details, head to my updated LJ blog entry here for the links.

Title: Transcript of the Sherlock Special trailer
Transcriber: Ariane DeVere

For anyone struggling with the dialogue in the trailer of the Special released yesterday, here’s a quick transcript of the spoken words only. The trailer itself is widely available online.

For those whose first language is not English, I’ve done a transcript of the latest parody in the hope that it will help. I have only transcribed the spoken words and not what is happening visually.

”The Case of the Missing Shoulder” transcript.

The transcripts of the previous parodies “Oklahomo” and “Mind Phallus” and links to the videos are here.

I hope it’s okay to put this up when it’s not 100% Sherlock-specific, but seeing as Andrew and Amanda were amongst the guests and there was some talk about the show, hopefully it’s still relevant.

This was the second time that Mark has done this to raise funds for the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard. As Ian Hallard explained when he did the introduction, the last time two years ago had been solely Sherlock-related but “in the intervening years Mark has found himself six whole new friends!”

This is just a summary of parts of the conversations with Mark’s guests: Sue Perkins, Andrew Scott, Amanda Abbington, Miranda Richardson, Derren Brown and Peter Capaldi.

The transcript of the DVD episode commentary for “His Last Vow” is done.

“His Last Vow” commentary here.

And “The Empty Hearse” commentary here.

I’m a low-paid archaeologist. Happy birthday, merry Christmas, goodbye.

I’ve done the usual partial transcript of the DVD episode commentary for “The Empty Hearse.” A transcript of the commentary for “His Last Vow” should be done in a couple of days’ time.

First drafts of the transcripts are up. Suggested amendments are welcome - I took these from Youtube and the quality wasn't very good.

Outtakes

Episode commentaries will follow in a few days’ time once I’ve got the DVD!

Something for the Germans (I don't know if the website lets you order from other countries). I recently discovered that the dm photo-printing website lets you print a lot more than just photos. You can get magic mugs, which reminded me of that Andrew Scott interview in which the interviewer told Andrew about a BBC event where they had "Did you miss me?" magic mugs. Now I could have one! So I quickly threw a picture together - you can use it, if you want.

I have been reliably informed that some people whose first language is not English have either struggled to enjoy these hilarious videos or haven’t watched them at all, knowing that they would struggle to enjoy them. I have therefore done transcripts of each one in the hope that this will help. I have only transcribed the spoken words and not what is happening visually. If you haven’t seen these videos yet because of the above reasons, can I suggest that you watch them first and then rewatch with the transcripts.

And trust me, don’t try to read these if you haven’t seen the videos, or your head will explode. Links to the videos are given in the transcripts.

I hope a few people find these useful! After all, I didn’t have anything better to do on my birthday ...

Transcripts here.

The words 'Sherlock' and 'Party' aren't usually put in the same sentence, at least not in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's series. But I've been thinking about this one for a while. I love to decorate and if you can't tell by now, I love Sherlock Holmes. A party doesn't have to cost a whole lot either if done correctly. All it takes is a little effort and a dash of imagination. Below, I've put together a list of ideas for a Sherlock Holmes inspired party. Take from it what you will, leave a comment below if you have any suggestions or if you do have a Sherlock party I want to see pictures!

Now that I have had time to go back and rewatch all the series 3 episodes carefully, both from the TV and on the DVD, and with and without subtitles/closed captions, I’ve made quite a lot of amendments and additions to the transcripts. I’ve also added a few more Transcriber’s Notes at the very end of His Last Vow.

I mention this only for the benefit of those who like to copy and paste the transcripts into single documents for future reference; and for the benefit of the Americans who may have now come out of their self-induced spoiler-avoiding exile!

Links to the transcripts for all three seasons, plus DVD extras, are here.

These are transcripts of new material which appears only on the three Special Features of the Season 3 DVD. They do not include descriptions of every visual moment – you should buy the DVD yourself to see those! But I hope that they may be useful in particular to viewers whose first language is not English and/or who are unable to access the subtitles.

Warning: Each of the Special Features contains spoilers. Enter with care if you haven’t seen the episodes yet.

‘Fans, Villains and Speculation – The Legacy of Sherlock Holmes’ (Spoilers for all three episodes)
‘Shooting Sherlock’ (Spoilers for “His Last Vow”)
‘The Fall’ (Spoilers for “The Empty Hearse”)

Also, transcripts of all three Season 3 episodes are here

I have put one together because I needed to try and unravel all the timings. It can be found here on AO3.

Obviously there will be spoilers for the whole series 3 in there. I should also say that it isn't definitive, just my interpretation of timings based on John's blog posts, the episodes themselves and some good old guesswork. It also builds on lyrical_sky's timeline for Series 1 and 2.

In honor of Sherlock season 3 premiering tonight in the U.S. I decided to do some Sherlock inspired nails. Now these were a first try so that aren't spectacular, but they do the job. I'm sure some more practice can make for better design. Any who, here's how I did it!

Now complete!

Part 4

Or start from the beginning

Now, where’s that ‘bed’ thing I used to lie in occasionally? I need to do some of that ‘sleep’ stuff which I vaguely remember, in case the DVD that comes out on Monday has commentaries on it. *cries*
